Being in love is such a beautiful experience for us humans. We all wish to be in a relationship where there are no breakups and we are happy always. Unfortunately, life is not that simple. We are faced with problems and hurdles that can jeopardize our relationship. It is therefore up to us, to ensure that we do everything in our power, to keep our relationship strong and healthy.
There are many unforeseen things that can take place that can cause a rift in our relationship. If we anticipate problems and keep an eye open for them, we can constantly be on our guard and try to avoid such situations. Or we can adopt a few rules that will help us in the long run.
If we are not being altogether honest with our partner, this is a good time to start. We have to understand that for a relationship to grow, we have to be able to look our partner in the eye when we speak to him. This means not having to lie or tell untruths. Once you are caught out in one, life can become unpleasant as you will lose the respect and trust your partner has in you.
Therefore, start with being honest to your partner, as well as to yourself. You will see how much easier it is to live with another person, whom you trust and adore, if you are able to gain his respect and trust.
You should always support your partner and encourage him in whatever he is passionate about. Try to get involved in a common activity. If you are not interested in whatever he wants to do, let him go ahead and do it. Do not try to put spokes on his enjoying a particular activity. This can make the relationship go sour and you will be the ultimate loser. Follow your own interests and respect his space.
Let him realize that you can be relied on, in any eventuality. If you have started a project, ensure that you complete it and do not leave it, hanging. He should be completely assured that you are capable of taking on something that you are going to finish. Half hearted attempts and not delivering your promises can cause problems, leading to a breakup.
Be a good listener. There should be active communication between the two of you. It should not be one sided. It is to your advantage to listen when he is telling you something as this will give you an inkling of his thoughts, interests and actions. By just hearing him out and not responding, you are not paying too much heed which could be disastrous. Try not to butt in when he is speaking but hear him out before you speak.
By following these simple guidelines, you will realize how effectively you have developed your qualities to become a better person, who is keen on working towards making the relationship work, to last. You base your foundation, on mutual respect and love for each other and you will make your partner and yourself happy, always.
